{a New York moment} - Even the trees are happy

Spring is finally here and surprised everyone in the city. One day we all were still wearing our woolen hats mid April and the next day we needed not to bother. Finding my sunglasses is more important now. Smoother days and smiling New Yorkers - all happy to be awaken from the cold Winter days. Literally everywhere I look, there are New Yorkers (mostly still dressed in black) and tourists (all dressed in colours) flooding the streets. Yes, people are out and about and the city is buzzing with good vibes.

Living in New York city also means, that having your own outdoor space is considered a luxury (which we don't have). So you take advantage of these warm days and fully enjoy them - before the hot and humid ones arrive. You learn to enjoy the many parks and use them as your back garden, or you learn the art of 'stooping'.

It simply means, you use the stairway leading up to your building as your front garden, so to speak. This whole 'stoop culture' was something I had to learn, but now we are happily stooping as well. Sometimes it requires waving to strangers, while they take a photo and I'm eating my sweet potato fries and continue reading my book. It's all part of living in a big city and embracing the compromises.

And moments when we don't feel like sitting on the stoop, we simply cross the street to our park (a.k.a. the back garden) which now is filled with pink, yellow and white blossoms.

I guess even the trees are happy and they're giving us some flower eye candy.
